Chinese Han character - Romanized Hainanese converter
漢字 - 海南話羅馬字轉換器
Hainanese (Mandarin: 海南話, Romanized Hainanese: Hái-nâm-oe), is spoken by an estimated 5,000,000 people on Hainan Island (and Province), of which there are five distinct dialects. Hainanese is also spoken by Hainanese overseas diaspora communities living in countries outside China such as Singapore/Malaysia. Hainanese has recently obtained an ISO 693-3 code which recognises it as a language.
This conversion tool uses the Haikou dialect (population: 3,001,600). Extracts of the Hainanese Gospel of Luke can be found here (Haikou dialect).
As with all other Sinitic languages, some of the Chinese characters may have different literary and colloquial readings, some examples of which can be found here.
If you input Chinese Han character text, you get Latin conversion in the Hainanese romanized text. The Romanization used in this tool is Hái-nâm Bǽh-oe-tu (海南白話字)
